Alien Handbands

Me and the tweens created Alien headbands during Teen Read Week 2013. This year’s theme was Seek the Unknown, so it seemed fitting. Materials were easy to find, inexpensive, and simple to use. We used headbands (the hard kind), felt, googly eyes, glue, scissors, and pipe cleaners.

If you wrap the pipe cleaners around a pencil, it creates a neat antennae. I liked this program because it wasn’t very messy, and it took very little prep work. The kids could work at their own pace, and there wasn’t a mad scramble to finish anything too intricate. I’ll do it again, maybe during October.
