Draw Your Own Comic Book
As part of our mini-con, the tweens and I created our own comic books. I set out some of the how-to-draw books in the collection, and some blank comic templates (with the little boxes already drawn in).
Participants favored totally blank drawing paper, instead. They were less interested in creating a story, and more interested in drawing characters from comics they've read.
This program cost absolutely nothing (well, a couple of cents worth of paper that we already had). I'm going to encourage more open-drawing during art club, and make sure we have how-to books available.
