Make Your Own Snowglobe

I've seen this idea on Pinterest a lot, and wanted to give it a shot. I purchased a pack of mason jars, some army men, and plastic dinosaurs. We already had a drawer full of glitter. This project was quick and easy with minimal clean-up.

There are a few things I'd do differently next time. I accidently purchased mason jars with a slight pattern on the sides, which made it difficult to see the snowy scene in the jar. I also purchased 8 Oz jars. Next time, I'll spring for the larger size. That will also give more room to create a cool scene. Three army guys and a lizard would not fit inside the jar lid. I recommend gluing something to the jar lid to raise the 'stage' a little more. If you glue items directly to the lid, they're hard to see in the mouth of the jar. Next time, I'll cut a few layers of foam to elevate things.

Another thing I'll change for next time: Limit the glitter! We got so involved mixing different colors that the finished product was a total glitter blizzard. Glizzard? Maybe we could have a program all about mixing glitter.
