When I taught Sunday School, I was often attempting to entertain children ages 1-7. Finding a craft activity that was easy for the little ones, but challenging or interesting enough for the older ones, could be difficult. I really like Popsicle Bugs, because you can add to them and make them more intricate, or keep them simple.
I've used this idea several times. Glue dots work well if a hot glue gun is out of the question. I've also used fabric and tissue paper to create butterfly 'wings' and the kids really liked those.
