Teen Programming

Decorate an Umbrella
Materials: Umbrellas, puff paint, pom poms, glue, trim/rick rack, needle, thread.
Cost: Umbrellas were $1 each. Craft supplies were in the craft closet.
Prep: 20 minutes
Activity Time: 2 hours
Would I do it Again? Yes! I loved this program. The only problem with doing it in April is, it's usually raining when they try to take their projects home.

Disco Balls with Old CDs
Materials: Styrofoam balls, hot glue, CDs, scissors
Prep: 3 hours to cut the CDs (I had to take breaks--it hurt my hands!)
Activity Time: 1.5 hours
Would I do it Again? Yes, but I'd need more help cutting the CDs. Is it cheating to just buy the packet of little mirrors at the craft store?

Make Your Own Chocolate: Teens
Materials: Chocolate melts, candy molds, squeeze bottles, crock pot, tooth picks
Cost: $35
Prep: Almost 1.5 hours
Activity Time: 1 hour
Would I do it Again? Yes. I modified the program for tweens and it worked a lot better!

Mother's Day Flowers and Vase
Materials: Glass vases, glass markers, puffy paint, tissue paper, stapler, pipe cleaners
Cost: $20 for 12 participants
Prep: 30 mins
Activity Time: 2 hours
Would I do it Again? Yes! I really loved this program. We do tissue paper flowers all the time.

Samurai Sword Pushpins
Materials: Paper clips, electrical tape, duct tape, Sharpie
Cost: $5
Prep: 5 minutes
Activity Time: 30 mins
Would I do it Again? Yes--but maybe as part of a bigger program.
